NOSBL Home Page

Welcome to the New Old School Baseball League home page! The NOSBL is a recreational simulator baseball league managed by two brothers: Chris & Andy Patterson from Milwaukee, WI. The league is modeled after the 1957 MLB season featuring 16 franchises and using modern MLB as the talent pool.

During the season, Chris is the GM for both the Oakland A's and St. Louis Cardinals and actively manages the A's. Andy is the GM for the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians and actively manages the Cubs. The 2 Commissioners will periodically rotate franchises every 4-7 years.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2019 WORLD CHAMPION PITTSBURGH PIRATES!!!

                             ABOUT THE NOSBL

When people think fantasy baseball, they think gambling on the performance of real life major leaguers. There is a whole different kind of fantasy baseball...simulation baseball. Over the years many card and PC games have come out. When I say games I do not mean video games. Simulation games that require strategy and baseball savvy. The thinking kind of game. The pioneers of simulation sports games were Strat-o-matic and Statis Pro. Strat-o-matic is still making games today. In the 1980's is when simulator games really started taking off. In the mid 80's Mike Cieslinski of Elm Grove, WI created a revolutionary baseball sim board game "Pursue The Pennant". PTP was the benchmark game for several years. After the strike in the late 80's PTP was sold off to another company which didn't do much with it. Years later Mike Cieslinski created Dynasty League Baseball based on PTP. It was great to have the card game back, and to this day, hands down, it is the best baseball sim board game out there.

The NOSBL uses
Action! PC Baseball as its game platform. This PC game generates play results based on calculations derived from the statistics of the pitcher and batter. The defense's range ratings, fielding pct. as well as the weather, ball park and how well pitchers or batters do in the clutch also plays a factor. The board games we used in the past simply rely on dice rolls. Plus, the Action! PC game also tracks all the stats one can imagine. The results are VERY realistic and fun. Chris is the commissioner for the American League and I am the commissioner for the National League.
